JohnRey Hassan

Little did JohnRey know taking a WFR in 2002 would spark an adventure with the outdoors and emergency medicine which would lead him to his present career. JohnRey brings a diverse background of EMS, SAR, Law Enforcement, and ER/Critical Care Nursing experience to NOLS Wilderness Medicine and couples it with his passion for the outdoors. Presently, he works as an Emergency Department and Critical Care Transport Registered Nurse in the San Francisco Bay Area. He possesses a Bachelor’s in Nursing Science from UC Irvine, is a board Certified Emergency Nurse, and a Paramedic. JohnRey has been a member of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office Mountain Rescue Team since 2005 where he has been involved with multiple complex rescue and search operations. He worked as a Seasonal U.S. Law Enforcement Ranger for the National Park Service and as a Reserve Park Ranger-Peace Officer in Southern California. Generally living the dream, when not working in the ER, transporting a critical patient, or teaching JohnRey can be found running the San Francisco waterfront or driving to the nearby Sierra’s for a mountain fix.
