Anne Slaughter Perrote

Wilderness First Responder

Anne Slaughter Perrote

Anne has enjoyed exploring the outdoors since before her first backpacking trip in a WV wilderness when she was 13. For the past 30 years she has worked as a Physician Assistant at a family practice clinic in Madison, WI providing medical care for uninsured people. As a leader of Sierra Club wilderness service trips she took several NOLS Wilderness Medicine classes; when she left her clinic job to spend more time outdoors, she became a NOLS Wilderness Medicine instructor. She’s happy to have found a way to combine her medical training with education that helps people to access the wilderness. She also works as a school naturalist, and continues to lead wilderness service trips for Sierra Club. She can be found in Madison, WI, hoping for snow for cross country skiing, or good weather for her community garden, when she’s not camping or traveling with her family.
