Spring Semester in the Rockies

Find new challenges on rivers, rock, and snow

Explore the outdoors through the spectrum of landscapes you’ll find in the Western United States on the Semester in the Rockies. Fill your days with some of the American West’s most treasured places. You’ll paddle down rapids on Utah rivers, break trail through snowy mountains, observe ancient rock art in winding canyons, and push yourself to learn new climbing skills. Each course has a combination of sections that focus on a different outdoor skill, and they all offer a wilderness medicine certification. The skills you might learn include horsepacking, rock climbing, whitewater paddling, canyoneering, backpacking, and winter camping and backcountry skiing.

On this semester, you will develop your personal leadership style as you and your peers learn new skills, overcome obstacles, and experience unique and memorable adventures. Every course is different, but no matter what, you’ll have real opportunities to communicate well, take care of yourself and others, manage risks, face adversity, and push your limits. These challenges will prepare you to be a leader in school, at home, and beyond.
