NOLS expanded its offerings to organizations in an effort to share its proven leadership and risk management curriculums with like-minded clients who share the school’s passion for experiential learning.
In 1999, the world’s leading aeronautics and space program approached NOLS to utilize the school’s innovative leadership curriculum. Leveraging the expedition model, the agency found that their participants could increase their threshold for uncertainty by adapting to variables that inevitably arise and complicate a group’s plans. Through that first engagement, the school has developed and grown its business-to-business solutions for organizations across many industries and areas of expertise.

NOLS has worked with groups from GE, Timbuk2, and Mountain Equipment Co-op to help them improve their communication skills, practice decision-making techniques, and coalesce around community values. The same lessons NOLS uses to prep astronauts for the unpredictable rigors of space will help your team stay focused on the goal in the chaos of business.

NOLS expeditions for military clients provide hands-on small team leadership experience and training in technical fieldcraft techniques. Our faculty is trained to work with a range of military organizations from service academy students and test pilots to the special operations community.
For over 15 years, military teams have used NOLS to improve interpersonal skills, practice leadership in a remote, resource-limited environment, and learn alternate strategies for risk management and group decision-making.
