<meta charset="utf-8">The Canyon Instructor Course is conducted in the canyons of southeastern Utah. Deep canyons, a sensitive ecosystem, and dynamic weather and terrain make this a great classroom for teaching wilderness travel techniques and outdoor living skills. This course begins at the NOLS Rocky Mountain campus in Lander, Wyoming with four days of in-town activities prior to starting the wilderness expedition. One-half to one day will focus on issuing gear, bagging rations, and preparing for the wilderness section. Three days will be spent in a classroom setting exploring inclusion, teaching, and debriefing. On the afternoon of the fourth day or morning of the fifth day, you’ll drive south to the canyons to spend the rest of your course backpacking in the field.
