APPLICATIONS FOR THIS COURSE ARE CLOSED. THIS COURSE IS NOT RUNNING IN 2023/24.

On this course, you will develop and refine the teaching and leadership skills needed to prepare you for professional positions at NOLS. The primary purpose of this course is to train and evaluate potential NOLS instructors. Each participant’s skills and abilities will be assessed by the course instructors with the intent of determining their potential as an instructor.

This course will take place on the Owyhee River, on the unceded lands of the Shoshone-Bannock and Numu (Northern Paiute) people.  The Owyhee is a stunning, remote river that winds through volcanic canyons in the high desert. On this self-sufficient canoe expedition, you will hone paddling, lining, and portaging skills and work to build community on the river.
