Steve has worked in outdoor education since the mid 90’s. He worked as a river guide and managed a rafting operation on the Kern River in California for over 10 years. He earned a BS in Natural Resources Interpretation and a teaching credential for earth science and math from Humboldt State University. He taught math and science for a couple of years but soon found his way back to his passion in the outdoors. He has recently bought a house and is settling down with his wife in Portland, Oregon where he instructs for REI Outdoor School, works at REI, and still leads river trips in the summer.
