After graduating from a NOLS Semester in East Africa in 2001, Phil returned to NOLS as an instructor in 2007. Since then, Phil has combined regular expedition work at NOLS with teaching outdoor education at the Laraway School and Northern Vermont University - Johnson. Both schools are located in Johnson, Vermont, where Phil lives with his wife, Laura. Phil has worked as a seasonal program supervisor for NOLS Northeast.
