Joëlle Baird

Joëlle (Jo) grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and has worked eclectically in many jobs for the National Park Service since the mid-2000s. After being a search and rescue victim early on in her backpacking career, Jo was drawn to the professionalism and level of care her rescuers provided and vowed to do the same some day. She now calls Grand Canyon National Park home and works as an EMT and preventative search and rescue (PSAR) ranger with the park’s EMS program. When not in uniform, Jo enjoys exploring canyon country, trail running, backpacking, mountaineering, coaching girl’s volleyball, and experimenting baking French pastries at high altitudes.
