Jake Blackwelder

Jake Blackwelder has been teaching for NOLS Wilderness Medicine since 2010. He is a Flight Paramedic and WEMT and has been taking care of people in the front and back country for the last 20 years. Starting with combat medicine and then progressing to Urban and Rescue medicine, he takes care of some of the sickest and worst injured people in the prehospital and transport realm. Jake is a solid clinician with a "Get it done no matter what!" approach to both medical care and rescue. He credits NOLS Wilderness Medicine for the fundamentals of the Patient Assessment System that he relies on daily for both teaching and patient care. Residing near Moab, UT he can sometimes be found in one of the many canyons in the area or at home with his wife and 2 kids.
