Edmilson Fonseca

Edmilson (Ed) has worked in the outdoors since 1996 as a rock climbing and hiking guide. He entered the outdoor education industry as a rock climbing, navigation, and leadership teacher in northeast of Brazil. Ed then became a NOLS field instructor in 2008 and teaches backpacking, sea kayaking, and canoeing courses at multiple NOLS locations including Alaska, Adirondacks, New Zealand, Patagonia, and Rocky Mountain. Some of his favorite classes to teach in the field include navigation in the Wind River Mountains and regional biomes to local students in South America. When he’s not instructing, he’s involved in adventure racing. He donates time as volunteer instructor for the Boy Scouts in Brazil. He is also a WEMT and is involved on local Search and Rescue.
