Dan Zacks

Dan began climbing in Joshua Tree, California in 1976, and on most days can still be found on the same rocks outside his back door. Since the 70’s Dan has explored all types of climbing and mountaineering around the world, including peaks in Europe, Africa, Nepal, and throughout the U.S. Over the years Dan worked as a wilderness/climbing guide, Peace Corps volunteer, SAR team member, and all around “Dirtbag” vagabond. Dan returned to Joshua tree 24 years ago and he is currently is in his 19th year as a flight Paramedic and clinical educator for Mercy Air. Teaching with NOLS Wilderness Medicine allows Dan to combine his passion for wilderness with his years of experience in his medical profession.
