Carlyn Cook

NOLS Wilderness Medicine Instructor

Carlyn Cook

Carlyn hails from a small ranch just north of Lander, Wyoming. She grew up packing horses with her family in the Wind River Mountains and is still amazed she survived. After high school, she attended Princeton University where she fell in love with long distance running and off-width climbing. After a brief stint abroad, Carlyn taught climbing, climbing rescue, and mountaineering courses at NOLS. She has spent a year working as an EMT before becoming a NOLS Wilderness Medicine Instructor in 2017. Currently, Carlyn lives in Lander with her boyfriend, their puppy, and his cranky old dog. She aspires to perfect her bread recipes, learn to sketch, and not take herself too seriously.
