Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician

Ben Tettlebaum

Ben grew up on a farm in Missouri and has held a love for the land ever since. He has worked in outdoor education for 20 years, enjoying over half of that time with NOLS, both as a Senior Expeditions Instructor and NOLS Wilderness Medicine Instructor. Other work in the industry includes instructing at Second Nature Therapeutic Wilderness Program, running an outdoor travel company, and overseeing outdoor programming and the Youth Opportunities Program at Mohican Outdoor Center for the Appalachian Mountain Club. Ben decided to join in America's pastime--working behind a desk--by completing law school in 2012. Currently, amongst other pursuits, he practices law in Maine, and is working his way out from under said desk. Ben feels grateful and humbled to teach with the outstanding NOLS Wilderness Medicine community, not least because of the inspiring students he encounters on every course.
