What your gift can do

Your gift makes it possible for NOLS to extend opportunities for life-changing experiences to students and communities around the world. It helps provide immediate support for scholarships, sustainability initiatives, staff development, and operations through the NOLS Fund. Your support also helps ensure the stability and future of the school through the NOLS Endowment.

The difference between the NOLS Fund and the NOLS Endowment is that the NOLS Fund provides immediate support that is used each year, while the NOLS Endowment is a long-term investment that provides financial stability for the future of NOLS.

How to Give

The NOLS Fund

The NOLS Fund provides flexible annual funding that fuels the mission that started more than 50 years ago. It supports scholarships, research and outreach programs, as well as day-to-day operations.

How to participate: Giving to the NOLS Fund is easy! You can make a donation online—it’s safe, secure and quick; you can write a check and send it to us at 284 Lincoln St., Lander WY 82520; or call us at 800-332-4208 and donate using your credit card.

The NOLS Endowment

The NOLS Endowment is funding set aside in perpetuity to support the mission of the school. It’s made up of an array of gifts and accrued interest, and is permanently invested. The return earned on the investment can be used by NOLS for a variety of needs. Through the NOLS Endowment, a single gift provides continued support to the school in perpetuity. Because our endowment contains provisions that prohibit spending the principal, it provides important long-term stability, allowing NOLS to stay focused on its mission regardless of changing annual pressures or economic downturns.

How to participate: You can contribute to the NOLS Endowment by making a gift to the fund as a whole, or—with a minimum pledge or gift of $125,000—establishing your own endowed scholarship.

“Leadership is the extra gear that you pack to lighten someone else’s load. It is the first step into freezing water to probe a safe path for your team to cross a river. It’s the last bite of cheesy pasta given to someone else and the kind word at the end of a long day’s hike. Leadership is so many things that can only be taught in the classroom of life, with experience as the professor and trial and error as teaching assistants.”
