Paul Bentz

Paul Bentz was a NOLS instructor from 1978–1985, working primarily in Wyoming’s Wind River Mountains. He later spent 27 years in public education as a science teacher and school administrator. Since retiring 13 years ago, Paul has returned enthusiastically to the outdoors, completing eight NOLS alumni courses while continuing to rock climb, backpack, canoe, cycle, and climb mountains throughout the American West and beyond. Now in his mid-70s, he says retirement has given him the chance to fully reconnect with the adventure and wild places that first inspired him as a young instructor.
