Welcome to Lander! Part 2

Welcome to Lander, Whitney!

By now you’ve all “met” my fellow NOLS Rocky Mountain intern Paul (and if you haven’t, check out his blog post below). Now that we’re almost two weeks into our internship, it’s about time I introduced myself.

I pulled into Lander a bit earlier than Paul–August 23rd, 2009 to be exact–when I started a Fall Semester Program in the Rockies. And, well, I enjoyed my semester so much that I decided to stick around. I returned home to Wisconsin at the end of my semester, packed up my things, drove across Nebraska (snore…) and returned to Lander and the NOLS community–a place that already feels like a second home.

Days at NOLS Rocky Mountain are packed full of issuing gear to students participating in Spring programs, helping them pack up their rations (that’s A LOT of food!), updating program curriculum, making cool blog posts, planning outreach events and generally having fun with an office of spectacular people. I spend my nights at the Noble Hotel cooking in the newly remodeled instructor kitchen, watching the Olympics with fellow interns and instructors, and planning great weekend activities and trips to Jackson and the Wind River Mountains.

I’m thrilled to be back in Lander and working with NOLS…and I’m just getting started!
