Rock Springs Reviews Resources
If you have an interest in the future of Wyoming’s Red Desert, the time to have your voice heard is now. The Rock Springs Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking input on its intent to revise the Green River Resource Management Plan (RMP). This revision aims to provide an updated framework for managing and allocating the numerous uses of public lands in southwestern Wyoming.
The Red Desert provides a unique combination of exposed geologic features, wildlife habitat, and paleo-indian artifacts, making it a great recreation area for NOLS’s wilderness horsepacking courses. The landscape presents an excellent classroom for teaching students the skills necessary to travel and camp on self-reliant horsepacking trips.
Resource Management Plans, once completed, ensure that public lands are managed in accordance with the BLM’s principals of multiple-use and sustained yield. Public participation is a cornerstone of a plan’s development. As a member of the public, you have the opportunity to influence the future management of the Rock Springs BLM. If you are interested please submit written comments before April 4th to: BLM Rock Springs Field Office Attention: Vera-Lynn Harrison, 280 Highway 191 North, Rock Springs, Wyoming 82901. Electronic comments may be sent to: [email protected].
