Liz Johnson is a Registered Maine Sea Kayak Guide. In her sixth decade, she has found herself inexplicably drawn to helmet sports.

Helen is the Curriculum Publications Managing Editor and a Field Instructor for NOLS. Her passions include sea kayaking, sitting in hot springs, and hiking with her husband, Mark, and her dog, Joey.

Brad is an occupational therapist, volunteer firefighter/EMT, and a NOLS WUMP alumni. His passion is traveling to provide therapy in developing nations around the world. He has volunteered in Mexico, China, Costa Rica, and Rwanda, and plans to explore more clinics in the future.

Will Harrison is a film student at Florida State University, and a graduate of Wind River Mountaineering and Wilderness First Aid courses. He enjoys landscape photography, backpacking, mountaineering, and running! Follow Will on Instagram at @will_harrison

Luiz is a NOLS Wilderness Medicine graduate who took his Wilderness First Responder course in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Allie Maloney is a backcountry chef and enjoys road trips and mountain town thrift stores.

Celia works in the Alumni Trips department. She got her start at NOLS in the summer of 2021 as a seasonal employee at the Rocky Mountain branch and never left. She is an instructor in hiking and climbing which she loves to do both with NOLS and in her free time.

Matt has been a NOLS instructor, teacher, and promoter. He now climbs, skis, and tinkers with building. He continues to serve on several boards, including Western Colorado University, and the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.

Dori has a bachelor’s degree in wilderness therapy and a master’s degree in outdoor education. Her passion lies not in the outdoors but using it to help people. Kyle Courtaway is a partner at NinthEdge Inc., a leadership development firm based in Chicago, IL. Kevin Charles Fleming is a field instructor and program supervisor at NOLS Rocky Mountain. He is currently at work on a book about the practice of leadership.

Shari Leach is a NOLS Expeditions and NOLS Wilderness Medicine instructor who has worked in outdoor and adventure education since the early 90s. Travis Davis is a poet and wilderness enthusiast living in Lander, Wyoming. Travis was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, and remains a fierce proponent of the city and state. A backpacking trip in Glacier National Park was the impetus for his love of the mountains.

Mike is a backpacking and sea kayaking instructor from Colorado. He enjoys whitewater kayaking, powder skiing, and cooking. He was a participant on a NOLS Alaska course in 2010 and has been working for the NOLS since 2013.

Carmine Leighton completed a Wilderness First Responder course in 2015.

Becca is the spring 2015 Stewardship and Sustainability intern at NOLS.

Luna took her semester in the fall of 2019, and has since started working for NOLS in a variety of roles. She is a sister, daughter, and an aspiring relationship fairy and transformation doula.

Mallory is currently traveling full-time in her 28-foot converted school bus, and is the co-owner of a small business she and her partner created called Mainely Kettle Corn LLC; they make and sell gourmet kettle corn at farmers markets and events around the country. When Mallory is not popping popcorn, she is exploring new places.
