Mike became a NOLS Instructor in 2000 and is still teaching a variety of skills for the school. His rescue experience includes many technical SAR operations in a variety of challenging environments. He is an instructor specializing in caving, canyoneering and mountain rescue, a certified AAA Avalanche Professional and has authored original research on avalanche trauma. He holds an appointment as associate faculty at the University of Utah and has served as the Program Director of the University of Utah, Center for Emergency Programs. Currently Mike serves as a dual certified paramedic and law enforcement officer for the Sheriff’s Office in Davis County, Utah. He serves as Canyon Patrol, providing paramedic patrol and SAR support to Forest Service areas accessed through Davis County. He also serves as an operator and Tactical Medic for the Davis County and Salt Lake City SWAT teams. MS, FAWM, NRP, LEO Operator, SWAT & Canyon Patrol, Davis County Sheriff’s Department
