Interns Make Marketing Go!

Yesterday I had a blast doing a training session with our newest interns, Devan Villalovos and Julie Hwang. Both are NOLS grads and they began their internships in the marketing department a few weeks ago.

Julie is working with Kerry Brophy, NOLS publications manager and she will be doing a lot of writing and editing for the NOLS website and other NOLS publications. One of her first assignments is a story about the NOLS Bus for the April issue of the Leader.

Devan is responsible for helping Deidre Ferguson manage the NOLS alumni rep and NOLS street teams programs. This summer Devan was a student on a course in the Winds that was filmed for a possible TV series. He is currently studying at Central Wyoming College as part of the NOLS/CWC associates degree program.

Yesterday’s training focused on communication skills and the NOLS message. Julie and Devan were joined by Katie Missett, who works in the WMI office and new NOLS Yukon director Jim Chisholm.

NOLS has a tradition of getting the most energetic, fun and talented interns anywhere. They crank out a lot of great work, learn a bunch and keep us “in touch” with our students. If you are a NOLS grad and are looking for skills to round out your resume you might consider an internship at NOLS.
