Climbers’ Fest a Grand Success

Over the weekend, the 17th annual International Climbers’ Festival (ICF) once again took place in Lander. Climbers from all over the state and country came together for climbing clinics, presentations, free food, and even some early morning yoga at Wild Iris.

A trade show in City Park kicked off the weekend and gave us NOLSies a chance to display our backcountry cooking prowess. After putting out a magnificent spread of NOLS catalogs, stickers and posters, Adrienne and I proceeded to bake up two beautiful batches of cinnamon rolls. If you recall from our first post, backcountry cinnamon rolls are among my favorite things so this activity was right up my alley.

Adrienne and I set up a cooking demo in front of the NOLS table at the ICF Trade Show.
For our filling, we chose brown sugar, cinnamon, butter, cranberries, walnuts and dried apples (all acquired from The Gulch). That’s a tip for those of you about to go in the field! We got plenty of compliments from everyone browsing the park. The people at Mountain Hardware were so impressed they gave us a light-up frisbee and some socks in exchange for another roll. A fair trade, if I do say so myself!

The cinnamon rolls turned out picture perfect!

All in all, the trade show and the Climbers’ Fest as a whole were a grand success for NOLSies and Landerites alike. We look forward to next year’s festival when we can learn even more from the great range of climbers and outdoor enthusiasts the ICF always attracts.
