Students will learn to weigh and bag their expedition rations on the first day fo their course.

Here at the Gulch we offer a wide selection of food available for purchase. For students attending a NOLS course, your tuition includes rations for every day you are in the backcountry.

For the public, if you are planning at trip through Lander en route to a mountain destination or just want to pick up staples for your home, we are the place to shop! Small and large groups are welcome. If you are planning a long trip with a large group call us at (307) 332-1419 in advance to let us know your needs.

This list represents the foods that are available for purchase at the NOLS Rocky Mountain Food Store in Lander. Food varieties may vary depending on availability and time of year. If you need assistance in planning a ration, we suggest taking a look at the NOLS Cookery or the New Backcountry Cooking Creative Menu Planning for Short Trips, to help you get a general idea of your total food needs. Another great tool for organizing your personal trip is the NOLS Backcountry Nutrition Book. It is chock full of nutritional knowledge.
