NOLS students travel the globe to far-flung locations. We use outdoor gear and clothing made from synthetics that are derived from petroleum. We hike and paddle in pristine wilderness. NOLS is making a mark and not just with the incredible education our students receive.
Since 1965 we have constantly strived to minimize the footprint we leave. We encourage our students and our communities to care for our wild places so we will all be able to enjoy them indefinitely.
When all is said and done, our students and graduates are NOLS' greatest contribution to the environment. NOLS grads are skilled positive leaders with an environmental awareness and a strong ethical foundation.
We invite you to take a look at the steps NOLS is taking to protect our classrooms and run a greener operation. We hope that we can offer helpful ideas for making sustainable choices and being a steward of the wilderness.
