Laura Sweet
Advisory Council Member
Laura has worked in international and higher education for 20 years, building expertise in intercultural communication, student affairs, institutional relations, and program management. She has held roles with the School for Field Studies in Australia, CIEE, Bowdoin College, and the School for International Training, and now serves as a Custom Program Developer with CEA CAPA Education Abroad. Her career was inspired by her own study abroad experiences in New Zealand and Samoa and hands-on work with a field school in the Solomon Islands. She believes the most meaningful learning often happens outside traditional classrooms, a perspective shaped early on by her experience with NOLS. She is a Whitewater River Expedition (1996) and Wilderness First Responder Recertification (2008) graduate.
Laura earned her M.A. in International Education from SIT Graduate Institute, an M.A. in Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a B.A. in Geography from the University of Colorado Boulder. She lives in Maine with her husband, two children, and their yellow lab. Always dreaming of their next adventure, near or far, they love traveling, sports, and exploring the outdoors.
