Women's Rock Climbing - Adult

Spend eight days climbing one of Wyoming’s best sport climbing areas, with a group of like-minded, supportive women. Whether you’ve never touched rock before or are climbing 5.10, this course will help you build a solid foundation for future outdoor adventures.

You’ll base camp just outside Lander and drive to different crags each day. Your NOLS instructors—some of the most experienced climbing educators in the field—will teach you movement technique, belaying, knot tying, rope handling, and rappelling. As you progress, you’ll learn to clean bolted anchors, lead belay, and potentially lead climb if you’re ready.

Base camping means comforts you wouldn’t get on a backpacking trip—camp chairs, fresh vegetables, extra clothes, time to read between climbing sessions. Wild Iris is a popular area, so expect to share the crags with other climbers.

All-women’s expeditions are built on the same core principles as all NOLS courses: leadership and risk management in the wilderness, environmental stewardship, and expedition behavior—supporting your team and putting the group first.

You’ll leave with solid sport climbing skills built through a week of climbing at your own pace, and with a new community of inspiring women to share future adventures with.
