Patagonia Sea Kayaking - Adult
Paddle Chile’s coast
Find your wild on the coasts of Patagonia. On this course for adults, you’ll take to the sea as you learn the essentials of kayaking on Chile’s coastal fjords. Start your mornings checking the wind for the day’s paddle. During the day, challenge yourself by navigating the blue waters of the coast. Learn about the area’s ecology as you paddle past a landscape of lush temperate rainforests and sweeping granite peaks. Spend your evenings savoring a meal cooked on a camp stove and planning for the next day’s adventure. At the start of your course, you’ll focus on the basics like paddle technique, then progress to more advanced skills like self-rescue. As you make your way along the coast, you’ll also have the opportunity to visit coastal communities and learn about their way of life.
In addition to wilderness travel, you’ll focus on leadership skills. Building community in the outdoors becomes a lesson in communication and group dynamics. Challenging days on the water are opportunities to learn tolerance for adversity. Meeting members of fishing communities is a chance to develop self-awareness and cultural competence. With these experiences and mentorship from your instructors, you’ll develop your own leadership style. You’ll go home with outdoor skills, a network of adventure partners, and the leadership skills to positively impact your community.
