DON’T SQUAT WITH YOUR SPURS ON

The Crew.JPG

Last Thursday, those of us who call the Admissions and Marketing departments home decided a wellness day was “well” overdue. Traveling westward we found ourselves swimming in a sea of history as we toured Three Peaks Ranch, a NOLS location since the early 70’s.

The ranch, homesteaded in 1888 by members of the Steele family, sits on 120 acres west of the Wind River Mountains. As we explored the grounds we were all entertained with stories as Joe reminisced his days as a wrangler. At the conclusion of our tour came what some call lunch and I now call feast. Wining and dining we filled our stomachs with delicious pitas and unveiled the 2008 NOLS course catalogs upon the ranch staff. A personal accomplishment came at the end of feast when I discovered I could eat 10 snicker-doodles in one sitting.

Devouring any rogue crumbs, we left the confines of the dining area and sped off towards the horse corrals. Three Peaks plays home to over 60 horses at the height of the season, four of which would assist us in bringing out our inner Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, or in Jeanne’s case, Danica Patrick. With unbelievable patience, Too Tall, Scooby Doo, Freckles and Wilson allowed us each the opportunity for an unforgettable ride.

As well as, watching Wilson potentially develop a complex from Jeanne attempting to ride him like an Indy race car, we all had a wonderful time with the Three Peaks crew.

An enormous thanks goes out to PeeBee (above), Amy, Nikki and Jeff for an incredible day.
