NOLS Grad McCartney Racing with Lance and Levi

1991 NOLS Semester in the Rockies grad Jason McCartney has been selected to join the indomitable Lance Armstrong and hill climber extraordinaire Levi Leipheimer to race for Team Mellow Johnny’s in New Mexico’s Tour of the Gila, which is currently under way. Jason already helped his teammate Levi win the first stage yesterday.

McCartney has been racing since 1999, when he entered the pro scene to
ride for Team Nutra Fig. Since then he’s raced for various teams, most
notably Discovery Channel, Saxo Bank, and now Team RadioShack. McCartney’s raced five grand tours all told. He’s known as a good
climber, having won the King of the Mountain titles in the Tour of
Georgia and the Tour of California.
