It is extremely prestigious, so much so, that nominations for admission are routinely received from congressmen, senators and the Vice President. To gain admission, applicants must meet rigorous requirements and be competitive in areas most high school students do not have to consider. Ally Warnimont is one of those impressive few to be offered admission, and she is certainly making the most of it!

“I chose to attend the Naval Academy because of all its unique opportunities, and most importantly, to serve in the Navy or Marine Corps as an officer when I graduate,” said Warnimont. “I love how the school focuses on achieving high moral, physical and academic standards as it develops the students into becoming leaders in the military. Another main reason I chose the Naval Academy was to be a part of the swim team. Competing for the Navy is a huge honor that I could not pass up.”

Students of the Naval Academy are expected to participate in training through the summer months when most college students are enjoying vacation. “NOLS, or National Outdoor Leadership School, is one of our options for summer training,” Warnimont said. “I have always loved the outdoors, and the option to go spend 24 days mountaineering up and down glaciers in Alaska was definitely a challenge that sparked my interest. I was with three instructors and 12 other students as we hiked with everything we needed on our backs.”
