Jackson Hole News & Guide: Recreationists buck against lifting E. Coli limit for streams

“DEQ’s presumption that small remote streams are not accessible for primary recreation is inaccurate,” the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) wrote in its comments to DEQ. “NOLS expeditions regularly travel on foot more than 100 miles on a 30-day expedition, andnearly all of this travel occurs miles from a road or trailhead. … Despite being many miles from the nearest road, our students will regularly encounter other users of the backcountry, indicating that we are not the only members of the public to venture into the backcountry.”
