Cochise Stronghold

Climbing camps at Cochise are a great chance for students to practice skills and learn new techniques.

All Climbing Camps that come through NOLS Southwest visit Cochise Stronghold. Camping in the grassy flats below the climbing is splendid. Many folks feel they are in the deserts of Africa. Staff from the Branch recently took a few days off to do some personal climbing there. In this photo James is
leading the 5.9, final pitch of “Too Tough To Die”. Many students climb this pitch as they finish the popular Cochise climb “Ewephoria”. James works in the issue room, where students recieve equipment for their adventures.
