BIG THURSDAY

As the sun rose above the Rocky Mount HQ
We arrived there at 8, with plenty to do
The big day was here and before the sun fell
We’d welcome back 4 courses to the Noble Hotel

OES 1 was the first to the bay,
All gear was cleaned up, counted and soon squared away.
The schedule was brilliance, each arriving in turn
But a curve ball was coming, oh yes we’d soon learn

SSR4 rolled up with bright smiling faces
And just as we’d started putting things in their places
We heard a great rumble, and were quite surprised to see
That soon we had busses, not one, not two, but three.

Were we dismayed?  Not a chance! No not us.
With gusto galore, we each took a bus
SSR3, OES2, students helpful and hearty
Joined the great scramble of a de-issue party!

With skis going this way and sleds going that
We found every first aid kit, every foam mat
We hung up the booties, and cleaned up the stoves
Maps by the dozen and shovels in droves

In true NOLS tradition we got the job done
And it wasn’t that bad. (Even some would say fun.)
We tackled the challenge with a smile and a laugh,
A big thanks to the instructors, interns, students and staff.
