NOLS Rocky Mountain Teams Up With AmeriCorps

This spring marks the beginning of the NOLS Rocky Mountain Internship joining forcNOLSes with AmeriCoAmericorpsrps’ Connecting Campus & Community (CCC) program. The mission of the CCC is to foster a deeper sense of responsibility and commitment at every level of the community. Working
through partnerships with community agencies, members will practice valuable citizenship and civic engagement skills to further their understanding of what it means to be a “good citizen”.

The opportunity for NOLS Rocky Mountain to become involved with AmeriCorps was established through the University of Wyoming’s Center for Volunteer Service (CVS). On Tuesday, March 3, Special Projects Manager Lara McCluskey and the two spring interns, Karl Reasoner and Graham Kolb, met with CVS Assistant Program Coordinator Nellie Simon for a day of AmeriCorps Training. The morning was spent discussing the mission of the CCC, the responsiblities of being an AmeriCorps member, and what it means to be an effective citizen. The festivities came to a close with Karl and Graham taking the AmeriCorps pledge to “get things done for America”.

Spring 2009 NOLS RM Interns: Graham Kolb and Karl Reasoner

This year’s spring interns are excited for the opportunity to be a part of such a great program. Throughout
their busy ten weeks, the interns will be performing community outreach projects that will strengthen the bond between NOLS Rocky Mountain and the Wyoming community. NOLS Rocky Mountain and AmeriCorps! This truly is the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
