Happy 40th Birthday NOLS Alaska!
For the past week, the quiet town of Palmer, Alaska has been a hub of activity. Home to our beloved NOLS Alaska Branch, otherwise known as “The Farm”, this beautiful location opened its doors to host The National Outdoor Leadership School’s Board of Trustees tri-annual meeting and, of course, to celebrate the branch’s 40th Birthday.
With important meetings, family day trips such as ice climbing and rafting, and an array of delicious food, NOLS Alaska’s Birthday Bash was a huge success. Culminating in a party with over 100 invited guests, the farm welcomed both new and old friends to enjoy the lasting memories and legacies created here and on the Alaskan trail for the past 40 years.

For a few lucky members of the board and their families, the celebration continued in the backcountry with a weeklong expedition of sea kayaking. With sunny weather and abundant family energy, nothing but good reports returned from their adventure. One young explorer even reported that he managed to catch a kayak while fishing, but like any budding conservationist, responsibly decided to throw it back.
So while NOLS Alaska may be over the proverbial hill, the infectious spirit and dedication of all who come to the farm is more alive and kicking than ever!
