Meet the NOLS Rocky Mountain Interns
Jake Perkinson and Amie Fleming are the new interns at NOLS Rocky Mountain for this fall. We’ve been around the office for two and a half weeks, and we wanted to introduce you to us!
Jake- a NOLS alumnus- hails from Charlottesville, Virginia and took his “IC” (NOLS speak for Instructor Course) this summer. He has no sense of humor, and is rarely caught smiling. Still, he manages to have a lot of fun around the branch, taking on tasks like repairing gear, learning how to ride a ripstick skateboard, and riding two bicycles at once. His recent interest in fishing has taken him out of the office into our very own backyard, with mixed results as portrayed in this picture.
My name is Amie, and I’m from Lincoln, Massachusetts. After spending 22 years in New England, I’m excited to explore the big mountains of the west, and meet all the great people who work for NOLS. I’m enjoying walking from the Noble to work everyday, impersonating famous paintings, and measuring food rations while listening to good music in the Gulch. One of my favorite after work activities since getting here has been trail running up in Sinks Canyon, the state park just outside of town.
We’re both really happy to be here, and are excited to spend the next two months at the NOLS Rocky Mountain! For now you can find us here drinking coffee, getting gear ready for courses, and tackling various projects around the “RM”.
