The National Outdoor Leadership School Unveils New Solar Array
Lander, Wyo., May 27, 2008 – The National Outdoor Leadership School’s (NOLS) Rocky Mountain facility will be holding a public unveiling on May 28, 2008 of its new 84-panel solar array. Attendees will be invited to tour the facilities and learn about the project through an interactive exhibit and informational session with representatives from Rocky Mountain Power, Creative Energies and NOLS.
Thanks to the new solar array, NOLS’ Rocky Mountain facility is now generating up to 40 percent of its own electricity. “NOLS Rocky Mountain is excited to be producing renewable energy. I believe our solar array ties well to both the mission of NOLS and the needs of our country,” said Gary Cukjati, NOLS Rocky Mountain director.
Made possible by the generous support of Rocky Mountain Power’s Blue Sky renewable energy program and installed by Creative Energies, the array is capable of generating 71 kilowatt hours per day, avoiding over 50,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions a year – the equivalent to what an average American produces in a year!
“Renewable energy is a growing part of the mix of resources used by Rocky Mountain Power to generate electricity for all of our customers, and our Blue Sky program gives individual customers a way to do even more to help increase the demand for renewable resources,” said Karen Gilmore, Rocky Mountain Power vice president of customer services. “We are pleased to be able to provide support for the National Outdoor Leadership School’s 84-panel solar project through the Blue Sky program.”
