Challenge yourself with this specialized elective for 3rd and 4th year medical students. Offered in conjunction with the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency (HAEMR) since 2006, Medicine in the Wild provides you an unparalleled opportunity to gain proficiency in wilderness medicine, leadership, wilderness travel, teaching techniques, and environmental health policy.

No other medical school elective offers this breadth of curriculum on a true extended wilderness expedition. The elective includes a one week classroom section and a three week wilderness expedition in the canyonlands of Southeastern Utah.

Prerequisites
This course is for 3rd and 4th year medical students.

This course is pre-approved for 48 hours of EMT Continuing Education Hours by the Commission on Accreditation of Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE).

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Wilderness Medical Society and National Outdoor Leadership School.The Wilderness Medical Society is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
