Vanessa grew up in the sprawling metropolis of Dallas, TX. Although she lived in the city because she was dependent on her parents for food, they were wonderful enough to take her and her siblings car camping in Arkansas during breaks from school. While she had no idea what it meant at the time, Vanessa experienced her first alpine start at the age of 14 when she summited Mount Baldy in New Mexico. She was introduced to Rocky Mountain National Park in 2006 by a dear friend who recognized Vanessa would find the community she had always dreamed of nestled below the stunning, craggy peaks. After graduating from The University of Texas at Dallas, she made Estes Park home and began cultivating her mountain adventuring skills. Her passion for the ocean equals her passion for the mountains after living on a 44’ sailboat for six months on the Pacific Ocean. She is enthusiastic about using wilderness experiences to help people set and achieve goals they never thought possible. Vanessa now lives in a forest paradise outside of Allenspark, CO where she takes people into the woods for a living and volunteers for the local fire department as a Wilderness EMT.
