Tess grew up in Manhattan, where she spent her days split between gymnastics practice, Sarah Dessen novels, and trying to climb up any scaffolding she could find. After graduating from Deerfield Academy in 2014, she made the leap from scaffolding to granite on her NOLS backcountry rock climbing course in the Wind River Range. This course was the beginning of her climbing and outdoor endeavors. She went on to be an active member, and co-captain, of Wesleyan University’s climbing team, and spent her summers working at gyms in New York City. Shortly after graduating with a degree in Sociology and minor in Environmental Studies, she returned to Lander where she often debates playing outside or taking a lot of very long naps.
