Jon Ferlise

Chief Financial Officer

Jon Ferlise

Jon comes to NOLS with extensive professional and entrepreneurial experience. He began his career as a CPA (certified public accountant) and spent four years in an audit practice of non-profit and governmental organizations. He then transitioned to work for a major US airline where he filled a variety of roles in corporate accounting, corporate finance, aircraft and debt negotiations, board presentations, and large-scale strategic financial planning. He then left these roles and started a management consulting business that helped organizations develop and implement financial reporting systems, strategic business development and start-up funding development as well as reaching over into marketing efforts to support financial growth.

Outside of work, Jon is an avid lover of outdoors pursuits, and loves traveling and exploring with his wife and two young boys. He is an avid trail runner who has run rim-to-rim-to-rim of the Grand Canyon, as well as a hardcore Chicago Cubs baseball fan and blogger. He is a NOLS Wilderness First Responder graduate, and credits that course for giving him new insights into the world of backcountry preparedness and care, as well as introducing him to NOLS, which he sees as an exciting opportunity to serve a nonprofit whose mission he deeply believes is needed. He has also served as a board member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona and Summit School of Ahwatukee PTO.
