After a major mishap of getting lost for seven days in 2008 on her first backpacking trip in Alaska, Erica quickly immersed herself in outdoor education. She has dedicated her vocation to gaining the proper training to educate and influence others how to ethically navigate the wilderness and mitigate risks. She earned a B.A. in Psychology and Outdoor Adventure Leadership from Sierra Nevada College, Lake Tahoe where she led student expeditions, instructed skiing, created and developed curriculum. She has become an independent outdoor adventure guide, leading whitewater river and backpacking trips for various organizations. Erica was introduced to NOLS by achieving her WFR certification and completing a NOLS Custom Education course in the beautiful canyons of southern Utah. She joined the Admissions and Marketing team at NOLS World Headquarters in April 2016. Her free time is consumed with disc golf, brewing beer, photography, research, and wandering about the wilderness with an overly prepared backpack.
