Raised in South Dakota, Dan spent summers exploring the Black Hills and biking around his hometown. Throughout college he spent summers guiding weeklong backpacking trips in Northern Colorado, where a coworker introduced him to NOLS. After graduating from California Lutheran University, he spent a year teaching English in Mongolia. When not teaching, or taking art and boxing classes in the capitol city of Ulaanbaatar, he was exploring the Mongolian countryside by foot, horse and car. Shortly after returning to the US, Dan began work in NOLS Marketing Department where he answers prospective students' questions and travels to tell more people about NOLS. Since moving Lander in October of 2016 he’s enjoyed playing in the snow on a NOLS Teton Valley Splitboarding course and learning to cross country ski in his free time.
