Originally from an island in the Puget Sound, Chris grew up cruising the Olympic Mountains and exploring the shorelines of the northwest. While earning his undergraduate degree in Environmental Education he worked for various outdoor education companies. He began working as a NOLS Field instructor in 2001. Since that time Chris continued to hone his skills as an educator through field work with NOLS, teaching at a high school in Boston, earning his Ed.M., and training K-12 teachers and outdoor educators in India. Chris loves the NOLS Wilderness Medicine commitment to both deliberate education and community. As the former NOLS Pacific Northwest director, Chris was able to further his connection to NOLS education and the community.
