Join a small group of NOLS grads, friends, and family on an attempt to climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro (19,340'— the top of Africa!) in northeastern Tanzania.
This nine-day expedition allows time to climb the tallest peak in Africa, while seeing the surrounding countryside and experiencing the culture of Tanzania. You and your group will learn to live in this unique equatorial alpine environment. You will also have a chance to learn about the geology, glaciology and unusual flora and fauna found on Mt. Kilimanjaro. While in the forests, you will have the opportunity to see Cape buffalo, elephant, bushbuck, or even a Colobus monkey.
Hauling camp, food, and equipment on Kilimanjaro is a hard job and porters will accompany us to lighten our loads.
**We believe it would be a shame to visit Tanzania and not do a Safari. NOLS has organized a 3-day Safari connected to our Kilimanjaro trips.
