Join a group of motivated adults to paddle Idaho’s Salmon River in the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness. Designed to fit into your busy schedule, this eight-day expedition is an opportunity to expand your outdoor skills and grow as a leader.
Practice maneuvering paddle rafts and oar rigs, starting with quiet water and working your way up to more challenging whitewater rapids. Dive into the basics of river rescue and risk management. Learn about the area’s history and ecology as you explore sandy beaches and riverside hot springs. Spend an afternoon contributing to a service project to help ensure other people can enjoy this unique backcountry classroom.
This expedition isn’t just about gaining outdoor experience. It’s also about developing your personal leadership style. Throughout the course, you’ll step outside your comfort zone to practice good leadership in a dynamic environment. Working with your group to navigate a rapid is a lesson in effective communication and decision making. Living in a small community offers insight into group dynamics and how to support your team in different roles. Return with the skills you need to lead in the workplace and at home, as well as in the outdoors.
