Scandinavian Sea Kayaking and Backpacking

Credit: Fredrik Norrsell

Scandinavian Sea Kayaking and Backpacking

This expedition will take place in 24-hour daylight in the Arctic north of Norway. You will travel on open tundra above the tree line and paddle along coastlines dotted with small communities and historical sites. You'll learn the basics of backpacking and sea kayaking in fast-changing Arctic weather. This unique experience provides you with plenty of opportunities to learn leadership and wilderness living, from forested coastline to snow-covered peaks. You will connect with the traditions of the indigenous Sami people and Scandinavian culture. If you’re seeking to explore the wilderness in north of Europe and grow as a leader while you do, then this is the course for you.

What Our Grads Say

“The fjords of arctic Norway and Sweden were absolutely breathtaking. The experience was everything I hoped it would be and so much more. I wanted to be challenged and I was. Everyday! I was expecting to meet some great people, but I didn't realize I would leave with friendships that would last a lifetime.”

— Brock A., NOLS Scandinavian Sea Kayaking and Backpacking grad
