JOB TITLE: Southwest Facilities Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Southwest Operations Manager
JOB OBJECTIVE: As part of the NOLS Southwest team, the Facilities Coordinator oversees the maintenance of facilities. They coordinate building and maintenance projects of various size and detail. They will assist operations department managers to provide excellent student service and instructor support while helping to create an inclusive, positive and welcoming environment for all.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong organizational skills and work ethic
- Able to work independently and be attentive to detail
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Able to work flexible hours, including some weekends and holidays
- Project management experience and/or maintenance/building skills
The following skills and experience are desirable:
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Applications.
- Expense management.
LEADERSHIP OR SUPERVISORY DUTIES: As a member of the NOLS Southwest team, offer and receive timely feedback among team members regarding performance. Work closely with interns and operations assistants during their time in the facilities department. Create and maintain relationships with contractors and vendors.
FUNDS AND/OR PROPERTY: Manages NOLS Southwest plant maintenance budget of approximately $11,000 annually. Works with program manager and operations manager in asset planning and facilities maintenance planning. The Facilities Coordinator will use local business accounts, petty cash and credit cards, and track expenses.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
50% Facilities Management: Oversee NOLS Southwest facilities and grounds upkeep, repairs and improvement projects. Maintain impeccably clean and efficient facilities that support appropriate risk management on-site for students and staff. Complete small repairs (based on experience). Work with contractors on a regular basis.
35% Operations Support: Support other branch operations by assisting with outfitting, rations and evacuations. Drive students to and from the field.
15% Miscellaneous: Other duties as assigned by NOLS Southwest operations manager and/or program manager (example: sustainability initiatives, local outreach, etc).

MOTOR VEHICLE RECORD: Applicants must be at least 21 years of age by the position start date and possess a valid driver’s license. Must have a clean driving history and be able to meet the criteria for NOLS vehicle insurance coverage.
COVID-19 VACCINE POLICY: All employees that work at NOLS facilities and who have regular contact with other employees and or students are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by their first day of work, unless they meet a medical, disability or religion exemption and a reasonable accommodation is approved. Any COVID-19 vaccine approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) is an acceptable vaccine for the purpose of this policy. Full vaccination or an approved exemption is a condition of employment for all new employees.
