JOB TITLE: Wilderness Medicine Admissions Manager
REPORTS TO: NOLS Wilderness Medicine Associate Director
JOB OBJECTIVE: The NOLS Wilderness Medicine admissions manager builds and oversees a 7-9 person admissions team. The admissions manager is responsible for planning the policies, vision, and tactics utilized to support wilderness medicine admissions, student centric financial procedures, financial aid, externally granted credits, and certifications for 25,000 students..
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to effectively supervise and lead a team dedicated to high quality customer service, accuracy and integrity, and inclusion practices. Must have strong communication skills for interacting with a range of audiences including parents, students, sponsors, and other administrators. Must be able to problem solve and prioritize. Must be comfortable launching and supporting new technological tools to improve customer service. Must be proficient using a computer for email, web based systems, word processing, and database interaction.
LEADERSHIP OR SUPERVISORY DUTIES: The Wilderness Medicine admissions manager directly supervises the Wilderness Medicine senior admissions officer, data technician, and student services representatives. The admissions manager serves as a primary resource for NOLS departments and locations seeking information related to enrollment, admissions practices, and admissions and financial aid policies. Additionally the admissions manager is responsible for the admission team’s compliance and reporting obligations with external entities.
FUNDS AND/OR PROPERTY: Accountable for all student tuition money. Responsible for reporting and/or payments to external credit granting agencies, external funding entities, scholarship providers, and third party insurers.
50% Lead the Wilderness Medicine admissions team. Develop streamlined hiring and training practices to ensure quality customer service, policy adherence, and data integrity. Identify and address potential system failure points associated with the high volume, high detail departmental workload. Continue to use and introduce new technological tools for innovation and efficiency.
15% Manage compliance and reporting obligations with external credit granting and authorizing entities. Examples include: Commission on Accreditation of Prehospital Continuing Education, Wilderness Medical Society, University of Utah, Western State Colorado University (AmeriCorps and 529 Education Plans), Veterans Administration, Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS), and various state and vocational entities.
25% Develop and supervise implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives at NOLS Wilderness Medicine. Model and develop language and practices to support all students and sponsors. Oversee scholarships available to wilderness medicine students and sponsors, negotiate cost sharing with sponsors to support accommodations for students, and supervise external funding relationships.
5% Serve as the primary point of contact for wilderness medicine expeditions and the wilderness medicine medical school elective.
5% Perform special projects and duties assigned by the Wilderness Medicine director team.

WORK LOCATION: NOLS Wilderness Medicine Offices, NOLS Headquarters, Lander, WY. Our Headquarters is currently operating on a very limited basis. This position is currently remote though the employee will be expected to relocate to Lander, WY when our Headquarters reopens. This position is available to legal residents of: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New York, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
