JOB TITLE: NOLS Wilderness Medicine Staffing Coordinator

REPORTS TO: NOLS Wilderness Medicine Staffing Manager

JOB OBJECTIVE: The Wilderness Medicine Staffing Coordinator works within a team of Coordinators who share responsibility of designing and implementing the Wilderness Medicine staffing plan for 1000+ courses annually. They provide resources and support to 300+ wilderness medicine faculty.

QUALIFICATIONS: A firm understanding of the NOLS Wilderness Medicine mission and the ability to represent all aspects of NOLS to a broad variety of audiences.  Must have management experience including supervision, leadership and problem solving. Must have the ability to work with a variety of people and to communicate clearly and effectively.  Needs to be creative, flexible and organized. Required skills include a background in systems thinking, a growth mindset, and computer literacy (database use, email capabilities, a working knowledge of Excel, etc).

LEADERSHIP OR SUPERVISORY DUTIES: Responsible for scheduling and supporting Wilderness Medicine instructional staff, writing annual performance evaluations, decision-making regarding instructor logistics, supporting the Staffing and Development Coordinators and Logistics Coordinator in their roles, and collaborating with the Sponsor Coordinator as they explore staffing options for potential courses. 
 

FUNDS AND/OR PROPERTY: Supports Staffing Manager in their oversight of the instructor payroll budget.  Assists with managing instructor training, instructor travel, and travel reimbursements for Wilderness Medicine instructors.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develops and implements the Wilderness Medicine staffing plan for all seasons. Creates and sends instructor contracts. Manages systems for monitoring Instructor performance. Works with the Logistics Coordinator on travel plans for all instructors.
  • Communicates with Wilderness Medicine instructional staff via informal open door policy, phone, and email.  Supports annual Staff Meeting planning and implementation.
  • Supports the Staffing Manager in providing ongoing instructor support.

This is a full time benefited position.
